Still, Eliza can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters - Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit Peggy, with her dazzling looks, and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival those of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball. The love story of Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler - based on the story that inspired the bestselling musical Hamilton.Īs battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. When I collected eggs from the chicken coop and delivered them to The Big House today, I caught about three minutes of news on the television: Israeli terrorists bombing Palestinians, with a conservative estimate of 60 harmless defenseless civilians dead- mostly children. I still consider myself fortunate for being where I am: I reside inside a quiet eddy of sanity on the edge of the raging river of human dementia that roars unchecked, undamed and damned, throughout the world in general and the Bush2 Regime in particular. A Court of Thorns and Roses series is the latest young adult romance series by Sarah J. This one, Anger Management, is set between Bite Club and Last Breath and is a story about Shane and how he is dealing with some of the things he faced in Bite Club. I also really enjoyed the short story found at the end of the book. It was good to learn some more background about the town of Morganville as well as some new things about the vampires who live there. Rachel Caine really knows how to capture trauma and emotions in words in such a way as the reader can feel what the character is feeling. Some parts were just heartbreakingly sad. The was the most emotional of the instalments so far, I have to say. I’m talking about offering the readers a glimpse into the minds of a few of the other main characters from the books by giving them chapters from their point of view. What I thoroughly enjoyed about this instalment in the series was that the author took something that she tried with the previous book in the series (Bite Club) and expanded upon it. But Claire knows he is trouble…really bad trouble…worse than any vampire-related trouble she could ever imagine… When she mentions him to her friends, they never noticed him. But things are about to get even more unsettling as we learn the real reason why vampires who burn in the sun are living in the middle of the desert.Ĭlaire has spotted a stranger in town, only for some reason, he makes her feel weird. When vampires start to go missing in Morganville, the Texan town starts to get a little…unsettled. Last Breath is the eleventh book in the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine. Sensitive, insecure, and incomprehensible to his grieving family, Paul feels isolated and alone. When Paul enters university in early 1970s Pittsburgh, it’s with the hope of moving past the recent death of his father. The Secret History meets Lie with Me in Micah Nemerever's compulsively enjoyable debut novel - a feverishly taut Hitchcockian story about two college students, each with his own troubled past, whose escalating obsession with one another leads to an act of unspeakable violence. Actually ghosts play even a bigger role in this story. Here however, vampires are bad - they have no soul. Lately, most of vampire stories tell that most of them are not truly evil. I'm very much surprised by this book since it takes new and different approach into the paranormal world. This one had me reeling - I mean it's scary.I was bitting my nails and jumping when the thunder hit (lucky me to be reading it during a thunder storm right) which just does NOT happen for me, the last time I read a book that had me truly scared was The Stand, I love the philological thrillers!įull review to come.I hope, I can get my mind together enough to give you an accurate review! 5 stars does not cut it with this one.it deserves more! It's amazing the way that Jennifer DeLucy was able to weave a story like this one.I am still lost in the words! And that epilogue was heartbreaking - as where the last chapters. Never before have I read a book with as much dialogue, and I thought at first I might not like it, but I could not have been further from the truth. It's an amazing tale, with beautifully written text. I picked it up, not 100% sure what I was getting myself into.but WOW, it belew me away.I was not prepared for the journey I took, for the story that unfolded before me. WOW, does not begin to cover my feelings for this book - about this book. |
